Funds that Helix has acted for since the beginning of 2001 have closed on over $25 billion. All size-limited funds raised by Helix have been over-subscribed across the cycle.
In recent years, Helix has successfully tackled a number of fund-raising challenges, including:
maintaining investor momentum during a down-turn in the market
assisting spin-outs to establish themselves as new firms
managing the challenges and opportunities of over-subscribed fund-raisings
addressing the problems of short track-records
raising capital for the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) in the UK
handling complex tax and fund structures
In 2003 and 2005 (two of the three years for which the category existed) Helix was awarded the European Private Equity Award for "Boutique of the Year" in a competition co-sponsored by INSEAD, the European Business School and Real Deals. The European Private Equity Award for Fund of the Year was won by Altor Equity Partners in 2003, in recognition of the success of its maiden fund-raising effort, which was co-ordinated by Helix.
In March 2005, Exponent Private Equity, a spin-out from 3i for which Helix raised its first fund, was named “European Fundraising of the Year” by the readers of PrivateEquityOnline and Private Equity International.
